Autumn/Winter 2011 Excitement!

Hi guys, I must must must apologise for extreme lack of posts, I know probably no one reads this, but I like thinking someone out there does!

I have been busy with working and all sorts of adventures goin on in Charlotte-land.

I have also been doing lots of reading and formulating my idea of a wardrobe for my favourite season.....Autumn/Winter - there has been so many themes mentioned, I still think that knitwear will be a big YES YES this year so much so as classic patterns such as tweed, hounds-tooth and tartan.

So this would also beg the question of how to make up your self to look lovely and autumnal to go along with your awesome outfit?

I have to give a HUGE thanks to the brilliant Elle magazine, since reading this amazing magazine ( i did a half price sub at London Fashion Week) I have gained so much knowledge and also confidence, their articles are amazing and the people they interview who I would maybe not have made much of before have really turned my ideas around of them.
I feel so much more confident and focussed on what things I want to buy and which things will suit me. I feel I will be a life time subscriber to this magazine - and thats not a fickle statement!

Well I have a few ideas. I still plan to keep it subtle. I believe warm browns/golds either metallic or matt with a little bit of very dark brown/black smudge on the outer corners of the eyes.  Then for the face, well I am trying neutral foundation with a nice warm peachy foundation to add a bit of traditionial rosy cheek to the equation.
To finish off......I hear that scarlet/post box red lips are the way forward, however I am a big lover of Avons 'totally twig' shade of Extra Lasting Lipstick, it says 8 hours use, however you do need to top it up every so often.

I have attached some pieces within this post that I will definitely be buying, there is a such a huge market at the moment I am struggling to decide where to go!
My old favorites such as H&M, River Island, Peacocks, F&F @ Tesco (I know its mad....but there stuff looks amazing online!!!) and then the slightly cheaper but by no means inferior Primark & Matalan.

My New Summer Look

Hello fellow bloggers!

I have been trying different mascara's this month, I feel in the summer the look I find best is

  • Tinted moisturiser with a little blush on the cheeks.
  • Mushroom/beige minimal shimmer on lids and crease.
  • Mascara to really bring out the lashes.
This has been a look used by some designers for their Spring/Summer Collections, it seems 'Au Naturale' is coming back, I for one (and my boyfriend) much prefer a more subtle natural look, often people have great skin in the summer due to the (hopefully) lovely sunshine overloading our skin with feel-good endorphins and Vitamin D.

I also have some great products for keeping your skin in good shape.  I myself suffer from hyper-hydrosis (where I can sweat for no real reason, or my sweat glands are very sensitive) so when its hot, I am prone to spots.

I have a 3 times a week routine whereby I use my facial sauna for around 10 minutes to open the pores, I then then St Ives Apricot Scrub to get all the last bits of grime out of my skin, then I use Clean and Clear Deep Action Cream wash, I use it to reduce redness as it cools and soothes the skin - completing my routine!

Also every fortnight I treat myself to a Montage Jeunesse face-pack/mask, they are usually £1 each and you get lots in them - so share with a friend ;)

Also a little tip - multivitamin's/cod liver oil supplements aren't just beneficial during Autumn/Winter but also Spring/Summer for a little top-up on what we are getting from the sun.

Collection 2000 'Eye Me Up' Mascara

First Impressions:
As you know I am quite particular about mascara, I love long thick lashes but now it seems as from some of the Autumn/Winter catwalk shows the emphasis is now on shorter ‘spider-web’ lashes.

This mascara is small which is convenient, makes you think it might not be as effective, however the brush is not a traditional brush, its referred to as a ‘skinny wand’ – there are no big bristles (which are likely to clump) the wand itself, I believe is a very good way of separating the lashes and achieving a more defined result.

Application
This mascara needs good 2-3 swoops to achieve its best which is fine as the wand is economical with the liquid, there making it last longer and also avoiding over-application. So its good for your eyes and your pockets! :D

Likes&Dislikes
I love the wand as its very effective, economical and bendy too to achieve a fabulous shape.
I would like it to be waterproof though (as do a lot of pollen/hayfever sufferers I guess!)

Price
As it is not on the Cosmetic Kingdom website yet, I did some research and average RRP is around £1.00-3.00

Rating
I would definitely use this mascara again, it ticks all the boxes, and the non- waterproofness is only a minor dealbreaker ;-)
